Chelsea Defeat Manchester United, Win FA Cup at Wembley

In a rather dull match that failed to live up to the enormous hype thrust upon it, Chelsea came through victorious against the Red Devils, 1-0, by virtue of nice give-and-go passing by Lampard and Drogba in extra time. Here's a video of the game-winning goal:

The match, with 89k in attendance, was largely unimpressive and highlighted by particularly poor performances from C. Ronaldo, Giggs, and Robben. To be fair, both sides seemed untracked for most of the game. Seven yellow cards were shown but the level of play wasn't as suspenseful as one would assume for an FA Cup final. Chelsea were the winners of the last Cup Final played at Wembley so its fitting for the Blues to end up victorious again.

Whether or not the pressure is off Mourinho now that he has two titles to showcase (Chelsea won the Carling Cup earlier this year) is yet to be seen but it has to be disappointing for Manchester fans hoping to match the successes of 1999 in their treble pursuit.

I couldn't watch the game, but I don't understand why Sir Alex started Heinze over Evra. Of course, I adore Evra to the point of being incapable of unbiased thought where he's concerned, but still. When he played against Milan, ManU kicked. When he was suspended in game 2... 'Nuff said.

And he'd also better get the France call-up for the June Euro qualifiers, or I'll be really ticked. And I'm sure Coach Domenech is quaking at this news.

Okay, I'm done now.
